My student Zeke will play for the Oscar Ghiglia master class at the 92Y on Sunday, October 27. Way to go Zeke!

This past week I did an interview with New York Family Magazine for an article about teaching guitar and music education! It should be published soon!

My student Alessandro just won a National Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music for getting the highest grade in the country in performance! So proud of that kid!

I’m super proud of my student Zeke who just got accepted to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Congrats Zeke!

I’m super excited for one of my students who just got accepted to the Manhattan School of Music for his Master’s Degree! Congrats George!

• Show:

Thank you Sesame Street for a great time! It was one of the most fun shows that I have ever played. I loved it when Murray Monster asked me all about my lute on camera! The after party was amazingly fun!! What a fun night.

Fun! I got asked to perform (on Baroque lute) with the cast and Muppets from Sesame Street PBS TV show for a Christmas Concert in December! I bet my little niece and nephew will think I’m so cool :)

Exciting! My student Alessandro gets to perform solo at Carnegie Hall in February. This year he received the highest score in the Tri-State area in "Performance" in the Carnegie Hall Program. Congrats Alessandro!

I’m very grateful and excited that 4 of my students get to play at the Benjamin Verdery Master Class at the 92nd Street Y on October 28! Mr. Verdery is THE most incredible musician, guitarist and teacher. Congratulations Mariam, Rachel, Alessandro and Zeke! They will play J. S. Bach and Villa-Lobos among others. My very kind friends and students asked me if I could put up some video of some Right-Hand Slide examples so I decided to do just one more video. With me are my great friends and great jazz guitarists Joshua Maxey and Kenji Shinagawa. Josh is on acoustic and laughing and Kenji is on the camera and BBQ chips. Enjoy!



• News:

This is a scene from a humor-based horror film from Spain called Doctor Infierno by director Paco Limon (music by Joan Pla). I recorded guitar for the soundtrack a few years ago. I never actually saw the film until now. Pretty wacky! This film showed at the Malaga, Brussels and Amsterdam Film Festivals among others.

On Friday I will be interviewed on-camera by Carnegie Hall for a segment about myself/my students. As always, I am a proud teacher :) Wish me luck!

Had an amazing time with Alexandra and band at our gig last weekend! My Telecaster, a great gig out of town, a limousine and an amazing hotel room - if only life were like that year round :) So fun!


• Had a great time with Alexandra at our first rehearsal for our gig in August. I always love it when my flight/hotel is free!

Congratulations to my student Alessandro Bruni for a great job at his recital at the 92nd Street Y! Alessandro is 14 years old and is a winner of the Recanati-Kaplan Scholarship. The R-K Scholarship is for students who show talent in the areas of performance and theory. In January he will play in the Eliot Fisk Master Class at the 92Y. Amazing job!! I am a proud teacher :)

• In July I’m attending Benjamin Verdery’s (Yale University) Classical Guitar Master Class in Maui, Hawaii. It will be 9 days of classes with Mr. Verdery, ensemble playing, concerts, beaches and snorkeling with friends :) Looking forward it!


• Hello! On Friday I’m doing a filming for a part I got on a Japanese Television show. I’ll post details and air date soon. Wish me luck! Thanks!


• Thank you to everyone who has been coming out to the Chelsea Market shows! With a kind encounter with Ethan Hawke and a filming for an Italian film next week, the duo gigs with Josh have been very fun! Thanks again!

• I’ve put some pieces on You Tube from a television show I was invited to perform for in NY called "The Arts in Westchester". Thanks to everyone who has been checking them out!


• I just signed on to perform in a film about Spanish composer Federico Moreno-Torroba. It will be out in the next year or two. I will keep you up to date!


• Show:

I just did a very cool performance with Terrence Howard. Terrence is a Academy Award nominated actor and has appeared in films such as Ray, Iron Man and Hustle and Flow. His debut album Shine Through It will be released September 2nd on Sony/Columbia records. Terrence and I performed together for VH1 at the VH1 Studios in Times Square - NYC. He and I played flamenco guitars while he sang some songs off his album. Fun times!
